Post Re: Mac news
My roomate upstairs has a 28' LCD that runs that resolution (not native, but it still does it). So a mac isnt the only thing that can make videos look pretty.

Hell, my 50' plasma does it too run off HDMI from my PC.

There are very very few things that a mac can do even close to better than a PC (video and graphic editing are about it, correct me if im wrong please).

So you dont want to upgrade your computer? That makes no sense. Its one of the great reasons to be a PC guy so you can upgrade your PC w/o having to buy a whole new computer. Ram getting slow? Throw faster in. Need dx11? Get a new vid card. It makes sense on the pocketbook. Why spend 2000 bucks on a mac your just gonna have to toss cause you cant upgrade in 5 years vs 500 to get a new vid card and more memory for your pc?

............I was agreeing with you, but if I could afford it, I would have both.

So then if its not a computer, then what would you call it?

A Mac is an appliance. A PC is a catch-all. This statement is not stemming from hatred, it is stemming from how things really look to me. You buy a mac for a specific purpose. You buy a PC for "a computer."

Want to watch Movies on the built-in 27 in monitor? OK, buy a mac. You can get one pre-set up to handle that.

Want to have an "internet box" to hide somewhere and be essentially a kiosk? Ok, buy a mac mini, because you can hide it anywhere.

Want to do photo/video editing? OK, buy one of the Mac bundles with a bunch of photoshop stuff.

Want to do all 3? Buy a shuttle PC with a good Monitor and a software package. In my mind a Mac is a digital tool, you buy it for one thing, and leave it be for everything else.
